About Me

Dr. Ofikwu has had a strong passion to serve others since he was a child, and he immediately realized that being a surgeon would offer him with not only the road, but also the means to build a life around it. He was born in Nigeria and received his medical degree from Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in 2000, where he was named "Best Graduating Medical Student in Surgery." He worked as a house physician before becoming a resident surgeon at the same teaching hospital.

Dr. Ofikwu worked as the Assistant Director of the Department of Quality Management at Harlem Hospital after arriving to New York in 2006. Later in 2015, he completed his general surgery residency training at Harlem Hospital Medical Center with The Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Ofikwu completed his surgical oncology residency at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Center for Cancer Research. Dr. Ofikwu completed his colorectal surgery residency at Michigan State University's Ferguson Clinic. Dr. Ofikwu then worked for Atlantic as an Attending Colorectal Surgeon.

Before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2017, he worked at Shore Surgical Associates in New Jersey. Since then, he has owned and managed Global Surgery Solutions and Colorectal Surgical Associates of Nevada, a profitable general and colorectal surgical practice that has witnessed great growth over the years. He has ties to a number of hospitals in Southern Nevada. And he's earned a reputation for taking on difficult situations that other surgeons would turn off, giving him a significant competitive advantage.

Dr. Ofikwu is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He has been a member of the American College of Surgeons since 2011, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons since 2012, and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons since 2014. The American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery have both certified Dr. Ofikwu. In addition, he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Ofikwu was awarded the Service Excellence Award for the second quarter of 2018 by Desert Springs Hospital's then-CEO Ryan Jensen. He has co-authored and published several articles in the field of surgery.

When Dr. Ofikwu isn't playing basketball or watching movies with his kids, he devotes his time to the Ofikwu Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to assisting resource-poor people in obtaining surgery and preventative care. He is committed to bringing progressive, health-oriented programs to underserved regions, as well as investing extensively in children's education and improving people's lives. While Dr. Ofikwu's call to service was heard loud and clear as a youngster, he now likes the human engagement and interpersonal relationships that emerge during the course of his patients' care, helping them attain healthy, active lifestyles through cutting-edge treatment techniques.
